I know I say this every time I write something, but it is crazy how much Zoey has grown! At sixteen weeks, she was 17.6 pounds. Most people say that if you multiply the weight at sixteen weeks by two, that will be her full adult weight. That means Zoey will be approximately 35 pounds when she is an adult. When we got her, the breeder said she would be about 30 pounds, so it’s not too far off. Some of her littermates are larger and some of her littlermates are smaller, so there will definitely be a range.
Her third set of distemper/parvo shots kicked, so we started taking her out on walks. And I can already say – leash training is going to be a process! Even though we try to walk her around the house with a leash sometimes, we are definitely not doing enough of that. When we take her out on walks, she just wants to pull the whole time. We try to slow her down with some treats when she walks properly for even just one second, and found that after running around for a while, she tends to walk much better with a loose leash. A tired puppy is a good puppy haha. The two leashes that I have been loving the most are this one from Sleepy Cotton Co and this one from Sniff and Bark (code ZOEY20 for 20% off).
As far as her potty training goes, it has been a dream! She has not had an accident in three to four weeks. Aside from the excited tinkles, she is doing very well. And now to some bad news – crate training. Because both of us work from home, she is with us all day every day. Recently, we have not been very good at remembering to put her in the crate for a period of time during the day. Even though she sleeps in the crate throughout the night and doesn’t wake us up at crazy hours, she doesn’t seem to like being in the crate when we leave the apartment. I think if we do a better job at crating her and leaving during the day, even if it’s short intervals, this will improve. Will report back!
On another note, we started #zoeystoytuesday on her Instagram a month ago and there are already 230 posts! It reached 100+ in the third week, and I’ve been shocked ever since. If you’re reading this, please DM me on Instagram @zoey.doodlebear to learn more about how to join Zoey’s Toy Tuesday!
